ICO to PNG converter

A free ICO converter that reads Windows icon files and writes them too, entirely in your browser. An .ico is where a favicon or a desktop icon lives, and most image editors will neither open one nor save one. This does both, and nothing is uploaded to do it.

Pick the formats first, or keep the defaults. You can change the output at any time.

Converted files don’t keep EXIF or color profile data.

Runs in your browser. Your files never leave your device.

How to convert an ICO

  1. Add your filesDrop an .ico in to convert it out, or drop a PNG or JPG in and pick ICO as the output to make one.
  2. Choose an output formatPNG is preselected for an .ico, because an icon’s transparency is usually the reason it exists. Pick ICO as the target to go the other way.
  3. Convert and downloadOne file downloads on its own; several arrive as a ZIP. An image drawn down to fit an icon says on its row the size it was drawn at.

Questions about converting ICO

Yes. Pick ICO as the output and you get a PNG wrapped in an .ico — the form Windows Vista and later, macOS and every browser read, and the only one that carries 256 px with transparency without a quarter-megabyte bitmap inside it.

One file is free. Four hundred, on brand, in every size, is what we do.
